This paper studies the Chinese translations of Kate Chopin's short story The Story of an Hour, from the perspective three - dimensional transformations of Eco - translatology, in particular the dimensions of language, culture and communication. The research shows that though the translators ac- quire a relatively dominant position in translating, they are bound to adapt to and select factors pertaining to these three dimensions prominent in translational eco -environment, so as to facilitate readers'interpre- tation of the purposes of the source text and the construction of the meaning of the target text.
