摘要
翻译界关于译者风格的讨论由来已久。关联理论翻译观提出的"风格即关系"为理解与解释译者风格提供了认知视角。通过对比分析杨宪益、利玛窦和许渊冲三位著名翻译家的翻译实践活动,阐明译者的翻译目的、译者对读者认知环境的判断、译者的偏好与能力等三个方面的因素形成了译者风格,说明关联理论的风格观对译者风格这一翻译话题具有充分的解释力。译者在翻译过程中所做的选择可能有被动的成分,也可能是主动的,都形成了译者风格。
Relevance- theoretic translation theory provides a cognitive approach to the translator＇s style,a long discussed topic in translation studies by stating ＂the style is the relationship＂. Through a comparative study of the translation practice of Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang,Matteo Ricci and Xu Yuanchong,it is made abundantly clear that the translator＇s purpose and understanding of translation,his understanding of the reader＇s cognitive environment,and his preferences and abilities together shape his translation style,hence highlights the fact that the issue of the translator＇s style can find a convincing explanation in the translation theory based on relevance theory. Out of his own choice or not,all the decisions the translator makes help to shape his style.
