The Story of An Hour is the most famous and representative short story written by American novelist Kate Chopin which reflects her writing style and her preferred theme. This essay examined this work from a stylistic angle ： first, the extra - textual introduction of the writing style and historical background of Kate Chopin, second, intra - textual investigation of multiaspect of the text. The focus is on the using of linguistic methods as a tool to an-alyze this work.
