摘要
带有新闻写作的特质,深入被历史掩盖的深处,而又含有文学创作的写作气质,这是加拿大华文作家李彦的非虚构作品《尺素天涯》的特点。这是一段历史的钩沉。通过白求恩最后的情书的发现过程,将历史与现实融合一处。又通过带有悬念和质疑的情节进程,让非虚构的作品生动形象。更重要的是,作者具有的中西交融的文化气息,展现出世界性的写作视野和精神高度。它不仅重塑了白求恩形象,更开掘出一个不为人知的历史地带,使白求恩精神具有了更加广阔的历史背景。
Chisu tianya（Letters to the End of the World）, a book of nonfiction, is characterised by its journalism as it probes into the concealed depths of history and by its literariness. Fishing for what has sunken in history, this work merges history with the realities in its discovery of the last letters of love by Dr Bethune and renders itself vivid and imagistic in its plotting of suspension and inquiry. More important is the fact that she has exhibited the vision of writing on a world stage and spiritual height as the author is able to culturally blend the Chinese and the Western, not only reshaping the image of Bethune but also unearthing an area of history hitherto unknown, thus providing the Bethuenean spirit with a much wider historical background.
