From a dynamic perspective, this paper explains the dynamic impact of core role change in teams on team performance by applying punctuated equilibrium theory, and tests the theoretical model by using the data from 30 NBA teams covering 11 regular seasons. It reveals that job- related skill of departing core role holders positively influences team performance losses, whereas job- related skill and team experience of new core role holders have an inhibiting effect on team performance losses. In addition, these relationships are mediated by flux in team coordination. Finally, it summarizes the theoretical contribution to team member change research and the practice significance to enterprise management.
