摘要
英国作家毛姆在他的几部长篇小说中都着力探讨了现代人的精神危机以及其解救之道,而写于晚年的《刀锋》,基本可看作是他对于此类问题的盖棺定论。文章着力分析《刀锋》主人公拉里人生三段经历,探讨毛姆笔下战争与人性的关系,以及毛姆对于解决精神危机的理想与实践。
In several of his novels, British writer Maugham discussed the spiritual crisis of modern people in depth. In The Razor’s Edge, which was written in his later life, Maugham attempted to find the final way to solve the problem. This paper tries to analysis several turning point in Larry’s life, and then discuss how Maugham’s thinking evolved on the subject Salvation of humanity in this book. Finally, a possible ways to solve this problem will be explored.
