审视乔治·爱略特有关艺术消费的互动影响性、克己均衡性、流动生机性三方面与约翰·拉斯金在此的共同观念,有助于更好地理解爱略特小说艺术思想的保守性。讨论两者的消费伦理和谛视内在审美,意在探索其保守主义的道德逻辑;这为研究和再现爱略特小说的消费意识提供了一种道德思想的重要依据;它是维护社会稳定和缓解经济等级矛盾的方式。另一方面,通过拉斯金的经济作品揭示爱略特小说的伦理义务观,旨在论证其消费经济观作为社会和政治机制的自然模式,不失为在经济停滞中发挥作用的有效手段。这是审视研究外国文学经典的视角之一,亦是拉斯金经济学著作对文学影响性研究的补强。
This essay intends to help understand George Eliot＇s conservatism in novel creation by examining her and John Ruskin＇s common conception of art consumption and moral duty from 3 aspects. It discusses the two writers＇ consumption ethics and the intrinsic beauty of their works to reveal their conservative moral logic, which in turn helps study the consumption awareness represented in Eliot＇s novels, and serves as a means to retain social stability and relieve class tension. Furthermore, the essay tries to reveal Eliot＇s view of moral obligation through the study of Ruskin＇s economic writings, aiming to prove that consumption as a natural mode of social and political mechanism plays an effective role in stimulating the stagnated economy. This study provides a fresh perspective to the classics of foreign literature and reveals the significance of Ruskin＇s economic writings to literature.
