Design is for Living——查尔斯·伊姆斯的产品设计解读

摘要 夫妻档设计师查尔斯·伊姆斯(1907-1978)和蕾·伊姆斯(1912-1988)是20世纪最杰出最有影响力的设计师之一,卓越的设计涵盖了家具、建筑、影像与平面设计,尤其是家具产品设计,成就斐然。本文对伊姆斯的代表性产品设计进行解读,运用文献研究、个案研究、经验总结等方法,提炼出有机设计、材料美学、细节美学、实用主义几大特征,旨在给我们当下的产品设计带来些许启示——现代产品设计致力于为人们的日常提供服务,提高生活质量,丰富生活多样性,即"Design is for Living"。 Charles Eames (1907-1978) and Ray Eames (1912-1988) are one of the most distinguished and influential designers in the 20th century. They design for furniture, constructions, images and graphics. Especially in furniture, they achieved striking success. This paper analyzes the representation product designs from Eames using literature research, case studies, lessons learned and other methods. Finally, the article refines four features: organic design, material aesthetics, detail aesthetics and pragmatism. Eames designs inspire our current product design that Modern Product Design is committed to serve people's daily life and improve quality and rich diversity, which is "Design is for Living".
