"Uncle Tom's Cabin" is a novel of sensation in American literary history, not only because the sentimental novel depicts the black reality of slavery, but also Mrs. Stowe's anti-slavery thought in this novel has greatly shocked the Americans and made them self-reflect on this evil system. Even though her anti-slavery thought has much in common with the more radical abolitionist thought at that time, they have one basic difference on how to deal with the freed black slavers. Through comparing the similarities and differences of these two thoughts, we are able to achieve a better understanding of her influence on American literature and history.
