Professor Yuri V. Petrov （born January 27, 1958） graduated fromLeningrad （St. Petersburg） State University in 1980. He obtained hisPh.D. degree from Leningrad （St.-Petersburg） State University in 1985and D.Sc. degree from the Russian Academy of Sciences （RAS） in 1995.In 2006, Professor Petrov was elected to serve as a CorrespondingMember of the RAS. Currently he holds the positions of the head ofDepartment of Extreme States of Materials and Structures, Institutefor Problems in Mechanical Engineering of the RAS.
