摘要
王国维在《宋元戏曲史》中高度评价元杂剧的同时,也对其关目、思想、人物等方面的不足提出了批评,即"关目之拙劣,所不问也","思想之卑陋,所不讳也"及"人物之矛盾,所不顾也"。王氏之观点根植于他学贯中西的学术背景,自有其合理性,但也有可商榷之处。元杂剧独特的情感结构方式、特定的受众群体和在特定历史语境中的创作主体决定了其独特的结构形式、思想世界和人物塑造方法。王氏所谓元杂剧之"不足"正从另一个侧面反映出元杂剧独特的结构方式、思想世界及人物塑造方法。
While speaking highly of the zaju (poetic drama) in the Yuan Dynasty in his Opera His- tory of the Song and Yuan Dynasties, Wang Guowei criticized its shortcomings in guanmvo ( an inno- vative plotting expressing the uniqueness of life and art), thoughts and characters. Rooted in his u- nique academic background with great knowledge both from China and Western countries, Wang' s opinions are reasonable but questionable. Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty has its unique emotional struc- ture, audience and creation subjects in a given historical context, which determines its unique struc- ture, thoughts and characterization. Those "shortcomings" in Wang' s eyes exactly reflect the u- niqueness from one point.
