摘要
作为认知语言学的一个重要分支,隐喻在近二十年来吸引着越来越多语言学家的关注,它引领着语言学热潮的发展方向。隐喻是用一种事物去理解和感知另一种事物的方式。它不是为修饰话语而发明的修辞技巧,而是一种反映人类思维的认知方式。因此,为了更好地探索英语和汉语在语言使用上的差异,我们有必要对隐喻进行深入地研究。
As an important branch of cognitive linguistics,metaphor has been the center of attention of more and more linguists in the past 20 years and remains to be a topic leading the development of linguistic studies. Metaphor is not a figure of speech invented to modify one ＇s speech but an understanding and perception of one concept in terms of another concept. It is a cognitive means which reflects human thoughts. Therefore,it is necessary to make an intensive study on the subject for a better understanding on the differences of language use between English and Chinese.
