Hokusou(Window facing the North) is a bimonthly Japanese magazine published by Manchuria Harbin Library from 1939 to 1944. The Editor, Takeuchi Shouichi, proposed to make it to be a comprehensive literature and art magazine with "Northern ambition", focusing on Russia and "Northern Manchuria". Hokusou published a lot of articles about Russian issue, Manchuria literature and Japanese pioneering group. As Japanese colonial authorities continued to strengthen their wartime ideological control, Hokusou eventually became a political propaganda tool.
