摘要
中国戏剧致力于"走出去"的翻译已愈半个多世纪,然而却难以被目标语文化所接受,问题何在?从理论层面看,中国戏剧的外译没有区分译入与译出行为的本质不同;从文本层面看,对戏剧文本意义的不确定性,不同文化的戏剧形式的不兼容及其翻译特征缺乏深入认识,忽略了"忠实"翻译理论的局限性。基于多元系统理论,源语文化、目的语文化是关联的跨文化系统,将跨文化边界的翻译文本纳入这一系统,可分析目标语文化与翻译文本接受的联系、戏剧文本意义、解读及其译出的特殊性。基于翻译行为的社会历史属性,译入与译出行为有本质的区别。
China has been committed to the "going out" translation of Chinese theater for more than half a century. Yet the translated versions have not been well received in the target language. This paper attempts to analyze the issue in theoretical and textual dimensions. Over the past years, no efforts have been made as to the distinction between in-translating and out-translating. Furthermore, translation scholars and translators a like have not realized that reading of drama texts tends to be individualized, and the mode of Chinese staging is incompatible with that of West because of its supposed cultural superiority, which shields incoming of foreignness hidden in foreign texts and performance. Accordingly, "faithfulness" is applied to out-translating practice without differentiation. To examine the impact of both source and target culture on the translated versions, poly-system theory has been modified to include them into the analysis under the theoretical framework. Based on the understanding of the nature of translation act from socio-historical view, the article also discusses inherent difference between in-and out-translation acts.
