摘要
本文通过波伏娃《第二性》中他者的概念分析舍伍德·安德森的小说《俄亥俄,温斯堡》"虔诚"这个故事中女性的地位。本文认为故事中的女性凯瑟琳·本特利和路易丝·本特利处于被动、附属地位,具有他者性,虽然她们努力寻求两性平等沟通和对话,但都在男权家长杰西·本特利的压制变成失去爱和沟通能力的畸人。
Simone de Beauvoir defines women as the Other in her masterpiece ＂ The Second Sex＂. In this essay,the author uses the concept of Otherness to discuss women＇s status in the short story ＂ Godliness＂,from Sherwood Anderson＇s ＂ Winesburg,Ohio＂. The author holds that Katherine Bentley and Louise Bentley are the embodiment of Other in the story; they are the passive,the subordinate. Their efforts to achieve an equal,reciprocal communication with their husbands became in vain under the suppression of the patriarchy family headed by Jesse Bentley.
