摘要
小说家对场所的思考始于18世纪,在大部分西方现代小说作品中,场所是隐性的,它是故事的背景,用于证明人物存在的真实性,并为故事奠定情感基础。在20世纪之后,场所被赋予新的内涵,它的内容也得到迅速拓展,场所不再是小说的边界,而是作品的中心。场所是主体与自然之间的桥梁。场所具有基础性和指示性等双重属性:一方面,作为隐喻的场所暗示自然的存在状态,限定作品中主体的道德标准,并赋予主体以特有的审美感知力;另一方面,主体并非孤立地生活在场所中,而是处于"主体——场所"的相互关系之下,小说中的场所为主体的精神性存在提供多种诠释角度。场所不仅是静止的序列,还包含大的时代历史背景和自然时序。
The novelist' s reflection of setting originates from the 1700s. Among the most of the modern western novels, the setting is implicit, which functions as the .background of the story to prove the authenticity of charac- ter and lay the emotional foundation for the story. After the 1900s, the setting is endowed with the new connota- tion, and its content expands rapidly. Thus the setting is never the boundary of the novel, but the center of the works. As the bridge between the subject and nature, the setting has the dual properties of foundation and guid- ance. On the one hand, the setting as the metaphor implies the existing status of nature, defining the moral cri- teria of the subject in the works while endowing that with the unique aesthetic perception. On the other hand, the subject not lives alone in the setting, but stays in the relationship of "subject-setting", in which the setting in the novel provides the multiple perspectives for interpreting the spiritual existence of the subject. The setting is not only the stationary sequence, but also contains the historical background of the times and the time se- quence of nature.
