Reign year, month, lunar phase and the day recorded using the "heavenly stems and earthly branches" method that are recorded within the same Western Zhou bronze inscription are especially useful for dating the bronze vessel or reconstruct bronze inscription chronology. A bronze vessel that has all the above mentioned information in its inscription can be used as the standard vessel. Therefore, it is important to decide the authenticity and accurate date of such standard vessels. This paper focuses on two recently published "standard vessels": "Peng Shu" bronze hu [倗叔壶] and "Zuoce Wu" bronze he [作册吴盉](National Museum of China). The form, script and content of the inscription suggest that the body of "Peng Shu" hu may be a forgery after the original inscribed lid and recent archaeological discoveries. An analysis of the form and inscription of the "Zuoce Wu" bronze he shows that it is probably dated to King Li's reign in the late Western Zhou dynasty.
