摘要
甲午战争,无疑是日本试图获取在朝鲜半岛的势力范围并进而向中国本土扩张的一次具有侵略性质的战争。但在当时的日本,朝野、尤其是以主流意识形态为主体的社会舆论,却普遍认为这是走上文明开化之路的日本与顽固守旧、拒绝现代文明的中国之间的一场有关“文明”的冲突。这一认识的思想资源何在?其内在本质又是什么?本文试图对福泽谕吉、内村鉴三和德富苏峰这三位明治时期极具影响力的舆论领袖在战争时期有关中国和日本、当然还有这场战争的言论的分析,来透视这一时期的日本知识人对于自我和他者(包括中国和欧美诸国)、对于近代文明和战争认识的内在肌理。
