摘要
《尚书·金縢》所载"周公居东",系周初重大历史事件之一。历代关于"周公居东"的两种主要解说——"避罪说"与"东征说",都是难以成立的。"避罪说"不符合周初政治形势,"东征说"亦与传世文献及金文材料之间存在抵牾之处。新公布的清华简《金縢》并不能证明"周公居东"为"东征"。今本《金縢》"周公居东二年则罪人斯得"与清华简《金縢》"周公宅东三年祸人乃斯得"中的"二年"、"三年"应皆为周成王的纪年。"周公居东"的内涵是:周公面对周初动荡不安的局势,深入武庚与三监之叛的策源地,调查三监叛乱的阴谋与事实,为东征做充分的准备。《金縢》记载了成王元年、二年间周公为东征所做准备工作的一系列史实,具有重要的史料价值。
＂The Duke of Zhou＇ s residence in the east＂ recorded in the ＂metal-bound coffer＂ of The Book of History was one of the major historical events in the early Zhou dynasty. The two main views about ＂the Duke of Zhou＇s residence in the east＂,＂The Duke of Zhou＇ s avoidance of his offending the Cheng King＂ and ＂the Duke of Zhou＇ s eastern expedition＂, were both untenable. The former view didn＇t in conformity to the situation of the early Zhou dynasty. The latter view had some conflicts with extant literature and bronze inscriptions, in newly-published ＂the metal-bound coffer＂ of the Tsinghua bamboo slips no evidence can be found to prove the Duke of Zbou＇s residence in the east was the eastern expedition either. The second year and the third year in the ＂metal-bound coffer＂ of today~ s version and Tsinghua bamboo slips should be in the years of the Cheng King. The meaning of ＂the Duke of Zbou^s residence in the east＂ was that the Duke of Zhou went to the eastern area and investigated the rebellion conspiracy planned by Wugeng and three overseers and made full preparations for the eastern expedition. The chapter ＂metal-bound coffer＂ of The Book of History recorded a series of historical facts about the preparations for the eastern expedition made by the Duke of Zhou during the first year and the second year of the Cheng King. So it is an valuable historical data.
