Spin welding is a mature and uncomplicated technique for welding thermoplastic parts that utilizes a circular spinning motion, in conjunction with applied pressure, to weld two parts together. It is the preferred technique for thermoplastic parts with a circular axis joint which have high bond strength/hermetic requirements. The principle, process parameters, welding equipments, joint design, characteristics, applications, and troubleshooting of spin welding are reviewed.
