摘要
"礼教"必须藉"学礼"落实,而外向之"学"难免遭遇"学什么"、"怎么学"问题。《荀子·礼论》以一种"信念机制"回应此类问题。《礼论》开篇依托"先王"一词的情感色彩立论,意在引荐一种"崇礼——学礼"信念,而接下来的"直观解说——榜样诱导——攻乎异端"则旨在强化这种信念。外向之"学"由此开始固执于"礼"。不过,作为一种情感,"崇礼——学礼"信念所认定的乃是一种"绝对而抽象的礼的完善性";学者必需寻求"具体理解",以便将这种"完善"境界落实进自己的生存。"礼有三本"说便是这样一种努力。一方面,"三本"说依附宗教感立论,这有助于维护"崇礼——学礼"信念;另方面,它相对具体,可作为范导"具体理解"的大思路。但问题在于:"三本"说在根本上取消宗教维度的独立性,考虑到学者一般尚未臻圣境,仅凭自己揣摩,各种偏差仍在所难免。一条可能的出路是:重新激活宗教维度,使之成为礼教之"学"的构成要素,通过领受宗教对象的帮助,学者不断走出情性牵引的各种偏差。
The ideals of Ritual Education can only be fulfilled through everyone's learning the Rites. However, necessarily will the outward-facing "learning" encounter the problems of what and how to learn, which is obvious all the more in a time of Rites-collapsing and various-schools-flourishing. Xunzi introduced a mechanism of emotion-belief in his Commentary of the Rite to respond such problems. In the very beginning of the text it appeals to the respectable emotional colouring of the word "XianWang" (meaning "sage-king") to stimulate the belief of honoring and learning the Rites. Then, through the intuitive explanation, exemplifying guidance and attacking the heretic,s, it tries its best to strengthen this belief. The outward-facing learning thus clings to the Rites. However, the completeness of the Rites recognized in the emotional feelings is just absolute and abstract, and in order to carry it out in everyday life, there should be more concrete understandings. By the theory of the "the Rites having three Roots", the text highlights the religious dimensions of the Rites, which on one hand strengthens the belief of honoring and learning the Rites, on the other hand begins the issue of specifically understanding the Rites. But the problem is that: the "three tools" theory tends to dissolve the independence of the religious dimension of the Rites, and concerning that the learners is generally not sages yet, without outer help they will inevitably misunderstand. A possible resolution seems to be reacti^ating the religious dimension and appealing to the help of religious objects. Yet there should be more analysis from the perspective of philosophy of religion.
