Principal component analysis was used for the evaluation of eight morphometric traits of Portunus trituberculatus at different month ages, including full carapace width, carapace width, body length, body height, meropodit length of the claw, fixed finger length of claw, meropodit length of the first peraeopod and body weight. Results showed significant correlations between any two traits from one to three month age(P〈0.01), however, some traits was not significant(P〉0.05) from four to five month age. The principal components of P. trituberculatus at different month ages were different. When the P. trituberculatus was one month age old, the length factor was the first principal component, and width factor was the second principal component. At two month age, the width factor was the first principal component, and the length factor and body weight factor were the second and third principal component. However, width factor was the only principal component at three month age. At four and five month age, the first principal component was body weight factor and the second principal component was length factor. The growth rate of morphometric traits of P. trituberculatus was not the same at different month ages; also, from one to three month ages, the growth of morphometric traits was prior to body weight, while the growth of body weight took precedence of morphometric traits from four to five month ages.
