Due to the long- existing sexism and racism, with youth as the main body, various radical movements aiming at winning their equal rights broke out intensively in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. The novels of that age ideologically subverted the mainstream values. This essay tries to probe into the 1960s and 1970s American novels' deconstruction and remodeling of the youth' s value on equality from the sexual equality between men and women, racial equality between the American whites and minorities like the black, Indians and the others and cultural equality between the adolescent novels and the adult novels.
