Through a questionnaire survey on international students from six universities in Beijing, this paper investigates the current situation of part-time employment of international students and the major concerns. The research shows that it is a prevalent phenomenon for international students to engage in part-time jobs in China. The major motives for international students to seek part-time employment include better income to relieve financial pressure, richer after-school life, deeper cultural immersion, and consideration for future career development. Although there is huge market demand from local employers, the current part-time employment environment can scarcely meet the expectation of inter- national students. The main issues for the part-time employment of international students in China include the scarcity of relevant laws and regulations, unregulated employment environment, insufficiency in public guidance and education, and the issues can only be addressed with the cooperative engagement of government, industries, universities and students themselves.
