盘瓠不是虚构人物符号,而是真实的历史人物,他于公元前2391年夏历五月初五,出生于今河南商丘。他从小就是个弃儿,是帝喾高辛氏将他抱养成人。盘瓠长大后与苗族和其他民族加入蚩尤领导的九黎集团,他们活动的区域是豫东鲁西。公元前2376年,黄炎集团与蚩尤发生"涿鹿之战",盘瓠15岁,脱离蚩尤集团,投入黄炎集团,参加了战争,并在战斗中斩杀畎夷之将,得到帝喾高辛氏的封赏,授爵赐婚。"涿鹿之战"是瑶族历史上民族分化迁徙的第一个波次,战后瑶族摆脱了东夷九黎族的控制,从这个集团中分离出来,独自寻找民族发展之路,瑶族雏形形成了。
Rather than an imaginary figure, Panhu who was born in nowadays Shangqiu city, Henan province on the fifth day of May, 2391 BC in Chinese lunar calendar, was a real person in history. He was an abandoned child and adopted by Emperor Chi whose surname was Gaoxin. When he grew up, he joined Battle of Zhuolu （nowadays Tongshan county of Xuzhou city） between Huang and Yan tribal alliance and that of Chiyou broke out in 2736 BC, when Panhu was 15. He disaffiliated himself from Chiyou and joined Huang and Yan＇ s alliance. During the battle, he killed the general of Quanyi, one branch of Jiuli tribal al- liance, and was knighted and granted a marriage by emperor Chi as an award. Battle of Zhuolu was the first wave of ethnic division and migration in the Yao＇ s history. After that, the Yao people dispensed the control of Jiuli tribal alliance, eastern Yi and separated from this group and began to search ways for ethnic devel- opment independently, thus formed the original Yao.
