摘要
作为一个多民族文化融合的国家,美国的文化发展虽呈现出多元性,同时以基督教文化为代表的传统文化一直是美国社会的主流文化。由于经济、教育和思想层面上的一系列变化,20世纪80年代,雅皮士文化在美国悄然出现。雅皮士思想相对前卫,受过高等教育,有着较为体面的职业,追求消费和享受。雅皮士是一个特定历史条件下亚文化的发展顺应社会主流文化的表现形式。由于雅皮士具有显著的进取精神、现实精神和竞争精神,因此,他们的出现对于美国主流文化的发展具有一定的促进作用。
As a nation of multicuhural integration, the development of American culture has been taking on the sign of pluralism. For a long time, as the representative of traditional culture, Christian culture has always been American mainstream culture. Because of a series of transformation in economy, education and ideology, Yuppies culture appeared gradually in 1980s. Yuppies are usually avant- garde in thoughts and well-educated, having respectable jobs and seeking for expenditure and extravagance. Yuppies culture, as sub- culture, is a manifestation of conforming to mainstream culture. Because they have very obvious enterprising, realistic and competitive spirits, the arising of Yuppies has accelerated the development of American mainstream culture.
