The stability of crude oil emulsions and the demulsiflcation mechanism were discussed. The progress of demulsifiers, including their present status at home and aboard and the relationship between their properties and demulsiflcation effects, was also reviewed. Some advice on the research of demulsiflcation mechanism and demulsifier was put forward at the end of the paper.
