To improve the power line carrier's transmission capacity and its tone quality, this paper puts forward a method of adapting voice compressed encoding and decoding technology in developing the digital power line carrier(DPLC) to improve the performance of the traditional APLC. The high voice recovery quality algorithm--the multi band excitation algorithm and the high performance/cost ratio multi band excitation chip--AMBE 1000 vocoder are choosed based on the comparison among various voice compressed encoding and decoding schemes. The voice compressed coder rate of 8kb/s is developed.
