摘要
会话含义从独立完整的言语行为中产生,在句子层面上出现。据此,部分学者认为内嵌含义对Grice经典会话含义理论构成了挑战,并试图从诸多视角建构不同的理论模型对之做出阐释。但迄今的各种内嵌含义理论均存在不同程度的局限性。受真值条件语用学调适方案启发,我们从语义学/语用学界面切入,揭示了内嵌含义实质上是触发语在具体语境中由局部语用调适激活的默认意义,具有可取消性特征。内嵌含义的自动性和无意识性与Grice的会话含义有着本质性差别。这种真值条件语用学内嵌含义阐释路径将语用调适与默认含义相结合,彰显了更强的解释力。
Embedded Implicature(EI) is construed by some researchers as constituting a challenge to the classical Gricean theory of Conversational Implicature(CI),in light of which CI should have been derived from a full-fledged speech act. In attempting to account for EI,various theoretical models have been advanced but none has achieved complete success owing to their inherent defects. From the perspective of the semantics-pragmatics interface,the present paper contends that EI is the cancellable default meaning of the relevant scalar term,triggered via a local pragmatic process of modulation in the specific context,with the automaticity and unconciousness of EI marking its salient difference from the Gricean CI. This TCP approach combines modulation and default implicature,thereby exhibiting a greater explanatory power.
