This review includes the synthesis of perfluoroalkane-sulfonic esters, single electrom-transfer reactions of perfluoroalkyl iodides, difluorocarbene precursors and trifluoromethylation of organic halides. All these reactions are derived from the preparation of chromic acid mist suppressant F-53, CF3(CF2)(5)OCF2CF2SO3K.
