Stop retarders are used at the tail of hump shunting yard instead of putting skates on the tracks and operating the hand brake by men for stopping railway cars and preventing railway cars from running off.This paper introduces the determination of amount of retarder layout of stop retarder ,position and method of retarder layout and effect in application after stop retarders are installed.
