A review on the application of turbulence model for engineering practice developed by the authors is presented.On this basis,a new depth averaged algebraic stress turbulence for entire flow field is proposed.In this model the divergent effects due to the vertical distributions of velocity and temperature are taken into account.The properties of non isotropic turbulence are also being considered.Thus,the mixing,diffusion and transportation of thermal water or pollution in the process of discharging into a large water body can be simulated more precisely.The numerical calculation of the thermal effluent of Douhe Thermal Power station shows that the result is better than that of depth averaged k ε models.
