摘要
From June 1999 to June 2000 the registration of divisions and medical personnel of nephrology in whole country including 30 provinces (autonomous regions), except Tibet autonomous regions, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, and Taiwan province, was performed by Chinese Society of Nephrology, Chinese Medical Association. The registration results showed: the number of divisions of nephrology in province-level, city-level and prefecture-level hospitals was 864; the average number of doctors was 4. 09 per million population, nurses 6. 66, and technicians 0. 53. The registration results also showed: approximate 170 thousand patients with renal diseases were hospitalized and treated in 1998; approximate 78 thousand cases underwent renal biopsy during the past two decades; and hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis were developed widely. About the educational levels of doctors, 85. 8% graduated from university of whom 14. 7% obtained Master or Doctor degree, 12. 0% graduated from junior co llege, and 2. 2% only took in secondary education. About nurses and technicians, 1. 4% and 19. 0% graduated from university respectively, 24. 6% and 39. 5% graduated from junior college respectively, and 74. 0% and 41. 5% only took in secondary education respectively. The geographical distribution of medical forces in whole China was quite imbalance. Looking from the actual numbers of divisions and medical personnel of nephrology, East China, Middle South China and North China administrative regions were evidently higher than others were. However, according to the mean number per million populations, North China, East China and Northeast China administrative regions were higher than others were. So the weakest regions in whole China were Northwest China and Southwest China administrative regions and a great effort to develop the medical forces in this western area should be made in the future.
