荆州历史文化名城保护规划在详细调查古城的历史变迁、地方特色和文化内涵的基础上通过分析荆州名城保护中的问题，提出了保护规划的整体目标和原则，并运用城市设计的方法，以控制古城空间形态、实现文物古迹和历史地段的环境整治．
