摘要
从新教公理宗的信仰、对中国传统注疏的取舍态度、苏格兰常识学派知识论的影响、初期比较宗教学的视野这彼此勾连的四个方面,探析理雅各译解《道德经》的前理解结构,并以他对汉典的译解为镜来反照我们对待自身传统的态度。
This paper tries to decipher Legge＇ s vorstruktur in his translation of The Trio Teh King from the following four interwoven elements： his Protestant Congregationalist belief, his attitude toward Chinese traditional commentaries, the influence of Scottish school of common sense, and the horizon of the newly-born science of religions. The deciphering of his translation can be served as a mirror to reflect our attitude toward our own tradition.
