Objective: Discuss the influence of phlegm and blood stasis on the homocysteine( Hcy) levels of hyperpietics. Methods: Intake 83 phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics and 66 no-phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics, comparing with 30 healthy subjects. Test the fasting plasma homocysteine levels of three groups. Results: The homocysteine levels of the phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics were significantly higher than both of the no-phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics and healthy subjects( P < 0. 01),and there was no statistically significant difference between the no-phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics and healthy subjects( P > 0. 05); the homocysteine levels of the grade 3 hyperpietics were significantly higher than both of the grade 1 hyperpietics and the grade 2 hyperpietics( P < 0. 01),and there was no statistically significant difference between the grade 1 hyperpietics and the grade 2 hyperpietics( P > 0. 05). Conclusion: The homocysteine levels of the phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics are significantly higher than both of the no-phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics and healthy subjects, which may provide objective basis on syndrome judging of phlegm and blood stasis type hyperpietics. The homocysteine levels of the grade 3 hyperpietics are significantly higher than both of the grade 1 hyperpietics and the grade 2 hyperpietics. Hcy metabolic disorders may be the one link on aggravation of the hypertension.
