摘要
中国外语学习中最令人忧虑的是口语交流能力,是什么原因导致中国外语学习者不能开口说话呢?原因就在于外语学习中的沉默期。事实上外语学习中的"沉默期"在国外早就引起学者们的关注,而在国内相关的研究中则很少。因此,本文根据克拉申(Krashen)二语习得的五种假设,阐述了中国外语学习者不能开口说话的"沉默期"形成的原因,以及对待的"沉默期"态度。
The Chinese EFL learners' incompetence in communicating in the target language concerns researchers and teachers the most. What are the reasons that make the learners unable to open their mouth and speak the target language? As a matter of fact, "Silent Period" as an ESL phenomenon has long been noticed and researched by foreign scholars but tend to be ignored by domestic researchers. Believing that Silent Period also exists among Chinese EFL learners, we make an attempt to probe into its causes based on Stephen Krashen's five hypotheses, and then suggest a corresponding attitude toward it.
