德特莱夫·瓦尔夫·布朗克(Detlev Wulf Bronk,1897年~1975年),生物物理学家,早年从事生物物理教学与研究工作,二战期间在多个战时机构任职并开始表现出卓越管理才能,1949年~1953年担任约翰·霍普金斯大学校长期间提出教育改革计划并对战后美国大学教育产生影响。基于经验,他在任洛克菲勒医学研究所第三任所长(1963年~1965年)和洛克菲勒大学首任校长(1965年~1968年)期间,主张开展医学教育并成功领导研究所向综合研究型大学转型,成为大学转型发展的领航者。战后他还曾任美国科学院院长并获得总统自由奖、国家科学院奖等多项荣誉。
Detlev Wulf Bronk (1897-1975), a biophysicist, engaged in teaching and research work on biophysics in his early career. He served for several wartime organizations during the World War II and demonstrated excellent ability on management. During the period from 1949 to 1953, as the president of The Johns Hopkins University, he put forward an education reform plan which had great effect on the postwar university education in the United States. Based on such experiences, he suggested that the institute should develop medical education so that the institute could transform into a comprehensive and research-based university while he was the 3rd director of The Rockefeller Medical Institute from 1953 to 1965 and the first president of The Rockefeller University from 1965 to 1968. He was a pilot of the university during the transition period. He had also been the president of the National Academy of Sciences after the war and received several awards such as Presidential Medal of Freedom and National Medal of Science.
