《觉醒》是美国女性小说家凯特·肖邦最富代表性的作品,它讲述了女主人公爱德娜自我意识的觉醒到最终无法被社会认同而自杀的悲剧故事。为了研究爱德娜的觉醒和死亡的悲剧命运,从女性意识觉醒的视角出发,分析了男权社会道德规范对女性思想的钳制和身心的残酷压迫。可是,对于自我意识觉醒和追求自由的爱德娜来说,她已无法容忍社会对她身心的摧残,这也导致了她最终的悲剧。
The Awakening is the masterpiece of American female writer Kate Chopin .It tells a tragic story about the disagreement of society with the heroine Edna ’ s awakening , which leads to her suicide .In order to analyze the tragic fate of Edna ’ s awakening and death , the self-awareness of the female is adopted to describe the cruel sup-pression of patriarchal society to the mind and body of women .However , to Edna who is self -awareness and free-dom-pursuit , she can not bear the cruel suppression , which leads to her final death .
