十三行后期,行商吴建彰拼购"西夷舰队",镇压农民起义军,充当了清廷刽子手角色,这是行商群体中最为国人不齿的败类行为,但也从负面助推了中国武装力量通向近代化的大门。
In the late Thirteen Hongs period, Samqua built ＂Western Barbarians Fleet＂ to suppress the peasant uprising army and acted as the executioner, which made him the most disgusting scum in Hong business groups. But it also helped Chinese army to open the door of modernization in some sense.
