The authors have studied the karyotype and Giemsa C banding pattern of Aegilops ventricosa L.. The result shows that D genome of Aegilops ventricosa L. is similar to that of genome of Aegilops squarrosa (DD) and that Aegilops squarrosa(DD) might be D genome progenitor of Aegilops ventricosa L..The M v genome of Aegilops ventricosa L. have two subtelocentric chromosomes, their arm ratio larger than chromosome of common wheat. They are none chromosome in common wheat, and the C banding pattern of M v gnome in Aegilops ventricosa L. different from chromosome of common wheat.
