摘要
庞薰琹是我国现代艺术史上的著名艺术家和工艺美术教育家,为中国现代艺术史和现代设计教育开创了新气象与新潮流。抗战时期,移居西南大后方的他深受抗日救国图存氛围的影响,意识到艺术不能脱离国家民族而存在;与考古学家、历史学家和民族学家的接触交往,促使他深入现实生活,亲赴少数民族地区开展田野调查。这些经历改变了他对艺术的理解,并预见到了实用性强的工艺美术将在今后中国社会经济的发展以及改变落后面貌的现代化建设中具有重要意义。他的实践与努力,成就了西南地区艺术在中国现代艺术史上的地位与影响。
Pang Xunqin as a famous artist and industrial - art educator ushered in new styles and trends in the history of Chinese mod- ern art. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Invasion, though Pang Xunqin moved to southwest China, he was under the in- fluence of patriotism and aware that art could not exist without a nation. His contacts with archaeologists, historians and ethnologists led him to have down - to - earth investigations, which changed his understanding of art. He predicted that industrial arts would have much significance in future social and economic development of China due to its practicability. His achievements helped ensure the important role of the art of southwest China in the the history of Chinese modern art.
