摘要
《独立宣言》是美国建国标志,其前言中说:"我等之见解为,下述真理不证自明:凡人生而平等,秉造物者之赐,拥诸无可转让之权利,包含生命权、自由权与追寻幸福之权(原意为:拥有私人资产之权)。"这部法典引导着无数美国人实现其美国梦。本文通过分析西奥多·赫曼·阿尔伯特·德莱赛(Theodore Herman Albert Dreiser)的小说《美国悲剧》中主人公克莱德悲惨的经历来共同探讨平等、自由等人本意识在现实社会中的存在意义。

The preface said： ＂We hold theses truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, which among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness＂. It led millions of Americans to realize the American dream.
