The American poet Emily Dickinson's poems are well-known for their abstruseness and intricacy. The frequently used image "circumference" in Dickinson's poems signifies both the endpoint of individual life and the starting-point of eternity. By analyzing how "circumference" connects Finite and Infinity and discussing the dialectic relations between inner and outer spaces of circumference, this article intends to build a systematic structure with circumference as its kernel so as to elucidate Dickinson's poems and solve the puzzles behind them on the time dimension, and hence to excavate the consistent venation in Dickinson's thinking.
