In the post - revolutionary period the print culture developed rapidly and many kinds of publications could be accessed by common people in the cities and towns. During this process women readers expanded quickly and women authors began to participate in the print culture actively and all these became one of the re- markable phenomena in the early republic. Women's participation in the print culture not only revealed the changes of views of society on women but also indicated that women began to break the limits of private sphere and enter into the public sphere bravely. These made the new nation's public life take on a new character dur- ing this historical period.
