摘要
为了对《红字》中霍桑所反映的人文主义清教观和人性观有更深刻的理解,从分析霍桑的童年经历和宗教观入手,从身份矛盾和精神矛盾两个方面剖析了男主人公丁梅斯代尔的矛盾形象,进而反映出作者对清教教义的不满。从丁梅斯代尔身上所反映的矛盾揭示了宗教信仰与当时生活的矛盾、人类理性与社会规则的矛盾,以及清教的残酷与不合理性。
In order to have a deep understanding of human puritanism and humanism which are reflected by Nathaniel Hawthorne in The Scarlet Letter, by analyzing from Hawthorne＇ s childhood experience and his reli- gion, and a deep analysis is carried out on contradictory character of Dimmesdale from his contradictory iden- tification and mental contradiction. Dissatisfaction of puritanism is reflected in Dimmesdale based on that. Contradictions between religions belief and real life, contradictions between human rationality and social rules, and puritanism cruelty and irrationality can be found from the contradictory character of Dimmesdale.
