Objective To explore the relationship among resilience, emotional regulation and personality in patients with lung cancer. Methods Connor and Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and Emotion Regulation Scale were applied in 40 patients with lung cancer. The correlation among resilience, emotional regulation and personality in patients with lung cancer were analyzed by Pearson analysis. Results The resilience in lung cancer patients was low, and the average score was (62. 10 ± 15.03). The scores of tenacity, self reliance, optimism and CD-RISC total score in the patients who were over 55 years old were higher than those of less than 55 years old, and the differences were statistically significant ( t = 5. 301,6. 330,4. 572,6. 308, respectively; P 〈 0.01 ). The scores of tenacity, self reliance, optimism and CD-RISC total score in the patients who were not covered by medical insurance were higher than those of patients who were covered by medical insurance, and the differences were statistically significant ( t = 4.788,5. 518,6.648,6. 556, respectively; P 〈 0.01 ). The resilience and catharsis regulation showed a significant positive correlation with inhibition regulation ( P 〈 0. 01 ), and negative correlation with EPQ-E, EPQ-N and nervosity in lung cancer patients ( P 〈 0. 01 ). Conclusions Emotion regulation and personality characteristics are the important factors to influence the resilience of patients with lung cancer.
