The colonial education in Naipaul's Miguel Street is represented as a state apparatus utilized for the reproduction of colonial ideologies, which uphold the rule of English language, culture, ethnicity and society over the exploited and subordinate local language, culture and historical tradition of the colonized country. The colonial subjects who receive the colonial education confusedly live in a fracture of hybridity between different languages and cultures. In their mimicry of the colonial culture, they develop an inferiority complex towards their native language and culture, and unconsciously internalize the drive to pursue the closest approximation to the colonizers. They may seemingly look like the colonizers, but can only be in subordination.
