摘要
旨在通过探讨福克纳在小说《押沙龙,押沙龙!》中使用的多角度叙述手法,剖析主人公托马斯·萨德本让人又爱又恨、又敬又怕的复杂个性,探索其家族分崩瓦解的根源,从而使读者更加客观地看待萨德本的人物形象,更加清醒地认识奴隶制和种族主义对于人性的无情践踏和摧残,并由此探寻美国旧南方崩溃的原因以及现代南方社会存在的问题的历史根源。
Absalom,Absalom! is William Faulkner＇s outstanding representative works. In this paper,we aim to study Faulkner＇s device of muhiple narration in this novel, to analyze the hero Thomas Sutpen＇s complicated individuality which deserves people＇s love and hatred, respect and fear, and to explore the root of his family＇s disintegration. It will make readers regard Sutpen more objectively,and cognize the merciless ravages of slavery and racism on humanity more soberly. Thereby, it will search for the reasons for Old South＇s collapse and the historic roots of the problems existing in the present South American society.
