摘要
林语堂向西方宣传道家文化并非以阐发老庄哲学的要义、宣传民族文化为最终目的,而是利用道家哲学中的某些因素,意图解决现代西方世界的生存困境,生存而不是学理是林语堂关注的中心,林语堂笔下的老庄思想是一种幽默、平和、和谐的"生存哲学"。林语堂尝试用老庄哲学解决现代世界由发展竞争及战争所带来的种种生存困境,使老庄哲学在现代背景下放出迷人的光彩。
Lin Yutang vigorously publicizes Taoist culture to the West,which is neither to elucidate the essence of the philosophy of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi,nor to publicize Chinese national culture.In fact,he aims to use certain factors of Taoist philosophy to resolve the survival plight in modern Western world.He centers on survival instead of theory.In his works,the thoughts of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi mean a kind of philosophy of survival,which is full of humor,placidness and harmony.He tries to use the philosophy of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi to deal with the survival plight related with competition and war in modern world,which makes such philosophy shine in the context of modern society.
